NoOp migration destination plugin

The NoOp destination plugin was needed because the NullDestination plugin appears to not work on purpose.

ValueFromCsv migration process plugin

Submitted by Unifex on
I had a Drupal 8 migration where there was some data that was available, but not available from the source DB. However, I was able to get this data in a separate CSV file and a value in the source db was available in this CSV file also. So I had a way around the issue.

SkipOn404 migration process plugin

This process plugin was created due to a dodgy source repository.  Not all the files were available and the default file_copy plugin would crash and burn if the source was not there.  This plugin can be used in the process section of a Drupal 8 migration like this;

nacl_helper and stupidly high memory usage

Submitted by Unifex on

I was just diagnosing some memory issues and found that the nacl_helper in google chrome was chewing up 84.0G.  Some searching on this floated a hit from May 2016 that identified the Google Play Music extension as a potential source.  I use Google Play Music so disabled the extension.  The nacl_helper process was killed off immediately.  Google Play Music still runs in the browser without the extension so I'm going to just leave that disabled and see if I notice any differen

Drupal turns 17

Submitted by Unifex on

Just over 10 years ago I settled on a single content management system as the thing that I would use as the core of my development work.  At the time Drupal 4.6 was the bleeding edge and it was... okay.  It was the best of a fairly rough bunch. In fairness though, that opinion is from my current position with 20:20 hindsight.

Seventeen years ago today Dries released Drupal 1.0 under an open source licence and things have only gotten better since then.

It's not a "Swiss Report"

Submitted by Unifex on

The Letter to the Editor from Felix Gurtner[1] that challenges the nature and representation of the "Swiss Report" was commonly linked to via the PDF on the Swiss Medical Weekly site. This PDF has been removed and is now returning a 404.

I've located the actual Letter to the Editor on the Swiss Medical Weekly website though. If you reference this often you'll want to update your bookmarks to this;

CCN PIN ship registry and the Parcel Tracker

Submitted by Unifex on

The Colonia Citizens Network have started a ship registry. The basic idea is that you register your CMDR, get a PIN, add your factions 2 character code (or IP if you are an Independent Pilot) and glue them together with a hyphen or single letter to represent your main activity. This becomes your Ship ID.

My year off is near its end

Submitted by Unifex on

Last year was bad. Losing Julian was one of the final straws. I pretty much checked out of everything for the year. Token activity on social media, barely looked at any code, no projects for friends, charity or pay. For the most part I let my inner misanthrope win and have had very little social contact at all.

I'm finding that I don't mind it either and I suspect this will continue for a bit longer.
