Google Plus to be shut down

Submitted by Unifex on Thu, 10/11/2018 - 07:10

So... It looks like G+ is going away. :/

From the post:

Finding 1: There are significant challenges in creating and maintaining a successful Google+ product that meets consumers’ expectations.

Action 1: We are shutting down Google+ for consumers.

To give people a full opportunity to transition, we will implement this wind-down over a 10-month period, slated for completion by the end of next August.

The WHO jump the shark

Submitted by Unifex on Tue, 10/02/2018 - 07:58

It looks like the WHO need to be renamed. For the first time the IDC is including "traditional" medicine. Lets ignore the annoying fact that the claimed mechanisms for most of these things are literally disproven.

There is a sliver of hope though. While the IDC has been prepared it has not yet been adopted by the World Health Assembly. This happens next year. There is still a small chance that the Assembly may come back with a "wait... what?" response.

In addition players will be able to research new technology with the help of high-level engineers at the evolving fringe settlements of Colonia. Colonia, Guardians and The Gnosis

Back from Colonia.

I've heard of the Guardian sites and have been out to a few to check them out.  Getting ambushed by that first automated sentinel was mildly nerve racking. This may have been a highly advanced civilisation but their combat AI just isn't up to the task.  They're reasonably easy to deal to with the standard loadout on an SRV.

I found a few Guardian Tech brokers near Vargerson and purchased access to the Guardian FSD booster and a few weapons.

I work for Catalyst IT. A company that has built its reputation on Free/Libre Open Source Software.

Today is the second Catathon. A day where everyone, company wide, gets to take a day off at work and do anything they like. Literally anything.

The NoOp destination plugin was needed because the NullDestination plugin appears to not work on purpose.

ValueFromCsv migration process plugin

I had a Drupal 8 migration where there was some data that was available, but not available from the source DB. However, I was able to get this data in a separate CSV file and a value in the source db was available in this CSV file also. So I had a way around the issue.

SkipOn404 migration process plugin

This process plugin was created due to a dodgy source repository.  Not all the files were available and the default file_copy plugin would crash and burn if the source was not there.  This plugin can be used in the process section of a Drupal 8 migration like this;
