"You're Donald Trump"

Submitted by Unifex on

A co-worker was telling us about something his kindergarten aged kid said a few days back;

Co-Worker: You have to eat your dinner before you have pudding.

Co-workers Son: No!

CW: Then you can go to your room and think about that.

CWS scowls, heads to his room, stops and looks at CW.

CWS: You're Donald Trump!

Returning from Brisbane

Just spent a few days with a new client at the University of Queensland getting to know the project and how they do things. They appear to do everything right. Everything. I've hardly started on the project and I'm already wondering how to get the contract extended.

Google Plus to be shut down

Submitted by Unifex on

So... It looks like G+ is going away. :/

From the post:

Finding 1: There are significant challenges in creating and maintaining a successful Google+ product that meets consumers’ expectations.

Action 1: We are shutting down Google+ for consumers.

...

To give people a full opportunity to transition, we will implement this wind-down over a 10-month period, slated for completion by the end of next August.

The WHO jump the shark

Submitted by Unifex on

It looks like the WHO need to be renamed. For the first time the IDC is including "traditional" medicine. Lets ignore the annoying fact that the claimed mechanisms for most of these things are literally disproven.

There is a sliver of hope though. While the IDC has been prepared it has not yet been adopted by the World Health Assembly. This happens next year. There is still a small chance that the Assembly may come back with a "wait... what?" response.

Elite Dangerous update

In addition players will be able to research new technology with the help of high-level engineers at the evolving fringe settlements of Colonia. "That's a place that's very special to lots of people," says Woods. "I know you guys have done a lot of really interesting things out there, and we've tried to support you where we can."

Colonia, Guardians and The Gnosis

Submitted by Unifex on

Back from Colonia.

I've heard of the Guardian sites and have been out to a few to check them out.  Getting ambushed by that first automated sentinel was mildly nerve racking. This may have been a highly advanced civilisation but their combat AI just isn't up to the task.  They're reasonably easy to deal to with the standard loadout on an SRV.

I found a few Guardian Tech brokers near Vargerson and purchased access to the Guardian FSD booster and a few weapons.
